Student Experience

The College of Engineering promotes 5 pillars of High Impact Experiences that expand your NC State engineering degree beyond the classroom. This is a chance to connect your coursework to real problems, grow your community, plan your career, and develop your leadership. In MAE, we also support the pillars of Work. Service. International Engagement. Research. Professional Development. Learn more about how you can get involved and develop your engineering skills in real-world and applied settings.

We also care about your wellbeing as a student. There are many resources to support you as you navigate your time at NC State.

High Impact Experiences (HIE)

HIE department funding: College of Engineering HIE funds are intended to support student high-impact experiences, internships, research, study abroad, and leadership roles to expand education and development beyond the classroom. Requests to the MAE department for these funds are specifically to support travel to conferences and competitions associated with MAE-hosted clubs and organizations. MAE organization leaders will be contacted directly about fund usage and allocations.

For support for other HIE pillars or for College-level club travel, please review the College of Engineering HIE website for information. Questions should be directed to MAE HIE at [email protected].
