Bio

Dr. Zhiyu Huang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at North Carolina State University, where he directs the Physical AI, Robotics, and Intelligent Systems (PARIS) Lab. He received his Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University and was a postdoctoral scholar at UCLA. He has also conducted research at NVIDIA and the University of California, Berkeley.

His research lies at the intersection of physical AI, robotics, and machine learning, with interests in foundation models for robotics, vision-language-action models, reinforcement and imitation learning, world models, robot perception and reasoning, and autonomous systems. His group develops scalable and generalizable learning and decision-making methods that enable robots and embodied agents to operate effectively in complex real-world environments.

Dr. Huang serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Open Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems and has organized workshops, tutorials, and invited sessions at major conferences including CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, and ITSC. His honors include the NTU Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Best Ph.D. Thesis Award, recognition as a finalist for the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society Best Dissertation Award, and multiple awards in international AI challenges and competitions.
