Bio

Susmita is an Assistant Professor who started in the Fall of 2024. She is a Schmidt Science Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University. She obtained her PhD from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN.

Her research focuses on a multidimensional approach that reflects a commitment to advancing energy storage technology through innovative design and manufacturing of next-generation energy storage devices. Beyond enhancing the performance, reliability, and yield of existing battery chemistries, her research also delves into polymer materials, exploring their applications to the development of stretchable batteries for emerging applications in healthcare, robotics, etc. Her other research interests include the application of thermally safe batteries in power grids, and electric vehicles and addressing challenges in large-scale energy storage.
