The hot press furnace will be used for processing advanced materials, such as metallic and ceramic matrix composites, refractory metals and ceramics, advanced sensors, advanced alloys, composite metal foams, and all other advanced materials for various structures exposed to extreme environments. The system will be used to perform processing of panels/samples of various sizes up to 12x12x12”. Currently there is no other such unit in the Research Triangle Park or even in North Carolina.
