Department Head delivers multiple Spring lectures

Department Head and RJ Reynolds Professor of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NC State University, Dr. Srinath Ekkad, has delivered multiple lectures for events all over the world this Spring, and is expected to deliver a keynote lecture at a national engineering conference in May.

On March 15, Dr. Ekkad gave his lecture, “Heat Transfer Studies for Gas Turbine Hot Gas Path Components,” via Zoom at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. During the lecture, Dr. Ekkad discussed an overview of the challenges in gas turbine heat transfer measurements and design of cooling systems as well as several methods with which major issues in heat transfer in gas turbines can be addressed.

Later in the month, on March 23, Dr. Ekkad was a keynote speaker at the International Conference on Thermo-Fluids and System Design held in Ranchi, India. There he delivered his lecture, titled “The Key Role of Heat Transfer Analysis in Energy Systems Research,” via Zoom.

Following the ending of Spring Semester, Dr. Ekkad will be a keynote speaker at the 7th Thermal and Fluids Engineering Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada from May 16-18. Dr. Ekkad will be talking on the topic “Detailed Heat Transfer Measurements for Rotating Turbulent Flows in Gas Turbine Systems” at the conference.

Please join us in applauding our internationally recognized Department Head for collaborating with mechanical and aerospace engineering professionals from around the world to pioneer cutting edge research in heat transfer methods and gas turbine systems.
