NC State’s Engineering Online has once again been ranked as one of the top distance-education graduation engineering programs in the country by US News & World Report.
US News ranked NC State seventh nationally on its 2022 list of the Best Online Engineering Programs. It’s the fifth straight year in which NC State has landed in the rankings’ top 10.
The Engineering Online master’s program was also rated in the top 10 for Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs for Veterans, coming in at 10th nationally. In rankings of online engineering specialties, NC State’s College of Engineering was ranked fourth for both its civil engineering and mechanical engineering programs, seventh for industrial engineering and eighth for electrical engineering.
Engineering Online offers 18 different graduate engineering degree programs that are the same high-quality engineering and computer science degree programs offered on campus, but with the flexibility of online learning to help meet students’ educational and professional goals.
Linda Krute, director of Engineering Online, said that the program’s strengths lie in its faculty, the quality of its educational product and the breadth of its customer service.
Most classes are taught by tenured or tenure-track College of Engineering faculty members who are passionate about distance learning and have a lot of experience with it. Krute said that the College is offering 110 graduate courses through distance education this semester alone.
“That really differentiates us from others,” Krute said.
The US News rankings look at metrics including faculty credentials and training, services and technologies made available to students, student excellence and how engaged faculty members are.
