SEMINAR – Smart Micro/nano-Structures, Devices and Applications

December 15, 2017 @ 11:30 am - 12:15 pm

Dr. Jiang

Abstract:

Smart micro/nano-structures and sensors are increasingly important for the smart world. In this talk, recent progresses inn our lab on piezoelectric and flexoelectric micro/nano-structures and the associated devices are presented for applications in biomedical, mechanical, aerospace, civil and energy engineering. In specific, small aperture piezoelectric ultrasound transducers were designed, fabricated and characterized for intravascular ultrasound imaging and therapy. Contrast materials and nanomaterials were also studied for contrast enhanced ultrasound imaging, drug delivery and thrombolysis. Flexoelectric materials and structures were next discussed for flexoelectric sensing applications, followed by the challenges and future flexoelectricity research.
