RED PD

NC State's new proposal submission system

Overview

NC State is transitioning away from PINS to use RED PD (Proposal Development). The College of Engineering will begin this transition in Spring 2026. PD is under the same umbrella as Post Award Management (PAM), Proposal Tracking (PT), and COI/NOI in RED, which are already in use.
For details on the differences between PINS and PD, and why NC State switched, visit the RED PD Implementation page.

MAE Go Live Date

MAE began the transition on March 16th. This was the first date that faculty started using the Proposal Intake Form for new proposals.

As of Summer 2026, the only proposals that should be routed in PINS are those with units that have not yet transitioned to PD.

Training, Links, and Resources

You can find the list of RED U courses and schedule here.

More RED U trainings can be found on the RED Resource Hub, under Proposal Development Training (the right hand side).

The Cycle 3 training pathways show the recommended courses and schedule for faculty interested in learning more about the behind-the-scenes of PD.

RED PD Feedback/Inquiries – Smartsheet form for feedback, issues, or inquiries. You can also reach out directly to COE-PD-Support@ncsu.edu for specialized assistance from the College, or the MAE Sponsored Research email (mae-sponsoredresearch@ncsu.edu).
