Positions
Multiple postdoc and PhD positions in the broad areas of soft electronics and nanomechanics are available in Dr. Yong Zhu’s lab in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at North Carolina State University.
1) Postdoc Position in Soft Electronics
We are looking for a self-motivated researcher to work on projects involving nanomaterial-enabled flexible/stretchable/wearable/recyclable electronics, sensors and robotics. The successful candidate will have the opportunities to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements:
1. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electric Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Textiles, Robotics, Sustainability or other related areas.
2. Background in nanomaterials (processing/printing), soft materials and electronic device development and working knowledge in electronics, mechanics and materials science.
3. A strong record of publications.
Applications will be reviewed immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The following materials should be included in the application: a cover letter describing their research experience and interests, a CV, names and contact information of three references. Interested candidates should submit the materials at https://jobs.ncsu.edu/postings/148406.
2) Postdoc Position in Nanomechanics
We are looking for a self-motivated researcher to work on projects involving mechanical characterization and modeling of nanostructures (e.g., 1D nanomaterials and their network structures). The successful candidate will have the opportunities to collaborate with atomistic modeling groups.
Requirements:
1. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or other related areas is required.
2. Background in mechanical behavior of materials, solid mechanics, and nanomechanical testing. Experience in the use of SEM, TEM, AFM or Raman is desirable.
3. A strong record of publications.
Applications will be reviewed immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The following materials should be included in the application: a cover letter describing their research experience and interests, a CV, names and contact information of three references.
3) PhD Positions in both areas
We are looking for PhD students in the above two areas starting in Spring or Fall 2023. Interested students should apply through the NCSU Graduate School. They are welcome to contact Dr. Zhu (yong_zhu@ncsu.edu) before or after applying to NCSU, with the following materials in one single PDF file: a cover letter describing their research experience and interests, a CV, one or two representative publications (if applicable), names and contact information of three references. Please contain the phrase “soft electronics PhD” or “nanomechanics PhD” in the subject line.
