Smart Implant Coating

We have invented a novel technique for processing Functionally Graded Hydroxyapatite (FGHA) coatings on metallic dental and orthopedic implants, which can be tailored to the bone formation rate of the patient so it can give faster patient relief and longevity of implant.

The third topic on our current research activities on coating is related to a novel technique that we have developed for coating polymeric implants and devices for applications, such as spinal cages, for better bonding to the surrounding tissue in the body, patient relief and longevity of implants. Top image shows the cross section of the FGHA coating.
