This website, therefore, will not be maintained anymore.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>I received the Bachelor of Science degree in Acoustics from the <a class=\"aLink\" href=\"http:\/\/ese.nju.edu.cn\/\">Department of Electronic Engineering<\/a> in <a class=\"aLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nju.edu.cn\/\">Nanjing University<\/a> (China) in 2006. I completed my Ph.D. in Architectural Acoustics at <a class=\"aLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rpi.edu\/\">Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute<\/a> under the supervision of <a class=\"aLink\" href=\"http:\/\/symphony.arch.rpi.edu\/~xiangn\/\">Dr. Ning Xiang<\/a> in 08\/2009. From 09\/2009-08\/2011, I was a research fellow in the <a class=\"aLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.harvard.focused-ultrasound.org\/\">Focused Ultrasound Lab<\/a>, Harvard Medical School (Brigham and Women&#8217;s Hospital), working on nonlinear acoustics and transcranial beam focusing. I have been an assistant professor at <a class=\"aLink\" href=\"https:\/\/mae.ncsu.edu\/\">Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering<\/a>, <a class=\"aLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ncsu.edu\/\/\">NC State University<\/a>,\u00a0since Fall 2011. I was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Starting September 2013, I am also an adjunct professor in the <a class=\"aLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bme.unc.edu\/\">Department of Biomedical Engineering<\/a>, which is a joint program between NCSU and UNC Chapel Hill. I have done consulting work for several companies on acoustic modeling and noise control.<\/p>\n<p>My primary research interests are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Biomedical Ultrasound: ultrasound imaging and therapy<\/li>\n<li>Acoustic Metamaterials<\/li>\n<li>Noise Control<\/li>\n<li>Nonlinear Acoustics<\/li>\n<li>Computational Acoustics<\/li>\n<li>Architectural Acoustics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mae.ncsu.edu\/jing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2018\/09\/CV.pdf\">R\u00e9sum\u00e9 (CV)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a class=\"aLink\" href=\"http:\/\/scholar.google.com\/citations?hl=en&amp;user=nkb3d8UAAAAJ\">Google citation page<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>News<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mae.ncsu.edu\/jing\/past-news\/\"><em><strong>Read More News -&gt;<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nov. 2019, Dr. Jing has been selected to receive the PIERS 2019 Xiamen Young Scientist Award.<\/p>\n<p>Nov. 2019, our paper titled &#8220;Extremely Asymmetrical Acoustic Metasurface Mirror at the Exceptional Point&#8221;\u00a0is published in Physical Review Letters. This work was done in collaboration with Tongji University.<\/p>\n<p>June 2019, Juanjuan Gu just defended her PhD dissertation, congrats! She is the fifth PhD student graduated from Jing&#8217;s lab.<\/p>\n<p>Apr 2019, Our paper &#8220;<a class=\"gsc_a_at\" data-href=\"\/citations?view_op=view_citation&amp;hl=en&amp;user=nkb3d8UAAAAJ&amp;sortby=pubdate&amp;citation_for_view=nkb3d8UAAAAJ:ZuybSZzF8UAC\">Simulation of the Second Harmonic Ultrasound Field in Heterogeneous Soft Tissue Using a Mixed Domain Method&#8221; was highlighted as the cover of IEEE Transactions on UFFC.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Apr 2019, Our paper &#8220;<a class=\"gsc_a_at\" data-href=\"\/citations?view_op=view_citation&amp;hl=en&amp;user=nkb3d8UAAAAJ&amp;sortby=pubdate&amp;citation_for_view=nkb3d8UAAAAJ:9vf0nzSNQJEC\">Composite honeycomb metasurface panel for broadband sound absorption&#8221; was a top 20 most downloaded article in JASA in 2018.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jan 2019, Dr. Jing received the 2018 MIT TR35 China award<\/p>\n<p>Oct 2018, Dr. Jing received the 2018 IEEE ultrasonics early career investigator award in Kobe, Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Oct 2018,\u00a0our paper titled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41578-018-0061-4\">Acoustic Metasurfaces<\/a>&#8221; is published in Nature Reviews Materials.<\/p>\n<p>Oct 2018, Dr. Jing was selected as an invited speaker for the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrs.org\/spring-2019\/call-for-papers?code=CP07\"> 2019 MRS Spring Meeting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sep 2018,\u00a0our paper titled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.aps.org\/prl\/abstract\/10.1103\/PhysRevLett.121.124501\">Simultaneous Observation of a Topological Edge State and Exceptional Point in an Open and Non-Hermitian Acoustic System<\/a>&#8221; is published in Physical Review Letters. This work was done in collaboration with Tongji University.<\/p>\n<p>Aug 2018, our research on the Complementary metamaterials was selected to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/xugroup.eng.ucsd.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Top-100-Science-Spinoffs-PDF-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Top 100 Science Spinoffs<\/a>\u00a0and has entered 2 % out of 5,000 global science spinoffs according to the following criteria: uniqueness of the technology\/product, high commercial potential and positive impact to the humanity\u2019s well-being.<\/p>\n<p>May 2018, Dr. Jing received the R.
